While serving on the Dallas Independent School District's Board of Education, Lois Parrott:
Spearheaded the $1.37 billion bond construction program approved by voters in 2001. The funds were used to build 21 new schools, a food service facility and an athletic complex and many renovated additions on existing schools.
Succeeded in obtaining board approval of the highest package of teacher pay raises without a tax increase at the time.
Implemented an outside audit which led to increased fiscal responsibility and stronger checks and balances.
Advocated for fine arts programs and obtained $500,000 for musical instruments.
She oversaw dramatic annual gains in all of District 3 schools, which reflected an increase of 30 to 40 points in several of those District schools.
